The Texas Instruments Silent 700 Terminal – I had this! Old post from 1994 about a terminal from the 1970s that I got at a garage sale for $5.00 that I used to hook into BBS’s for a fun example of retro tech. Now BBS’s are the retro tech and this printing modem terminal thing is a telegraph :) It used fax paper which was still easy to get in 1994.

It’s amazing that these things ever existed. It’s such a world away. Somewhere in my files, I have printouts from the machine hooking up to a local BBS during some party where we were all watching Wizard of Speed and Time and eating Doritos or something.
