The Fitnessgram Pacer Test, used in American schools since the early 1980s, is still in use today in 2016. When it showed up as a meme a few months ago for the first time, I had flashbacks of running to this very same voice and this very same music, faster and faster and faster ’til I was #1.
That’s all I’ll add to rational music for now, but i hope others will also join in. Some algorithmic music would also fit here as well, although that moves away from pragmatism and more into “music that can be both rationally understood and enjoyed” rather than “This music is rational to have and use” on its own merits.
