The evidence provides the necessary inertia for resistance of change.

Resistance to change is not necessarily a bad thing at all: Without it, what could be constructed? But it’s just something good to keep in mind. It’s especially true in the sciences where evidence provides adequate “gravity” for a resistance-to-change but is (should also be) nimble enough to change upon sufficient novel evidence, or novel formulations of existing evidence which is effectively the same result.
