The effect feeds back into the cause, allowing for further causes.

h there’s a watch mechanism I want to show you – hang on… here:

Using your analogizer – consider cause/effect.
With the right balanced mechanism, a slight disturbance can be all it takes to get something started that continues on its own beyond that.

The effect feeds back into the cause, allowing for further causes.

[I’m not doing a “proof of God” thing here… but this *is* a damned amazing mechanism. I was looking for an engineering equivalent to mechanism with minimal cause that has long-lasting effects and, surprise of surprises, up comes a novel watch mechanism.]
You don’t even need sound on to watch this. I’m watching it without sound. It’s beautiful to watch this … watch.
