The absolute dichotomy portrayed by this meme is what’s fantasy. Could you find echos of something vaguely similar in the past? Sure. But that image and the extreme it’s encouraging is fantasy.
Back to my analogy: Can a woman expect a reasonably nice wedding? Sure. What about a “perfect wedding”? Fantasy.
2+2=7 has elements of truth in it.
The image isn’t that of a “good housewife”. It’s that of a good server of guests. Waitress. Hostess.
If you don’t know the difference between a waitress and a wife…
I have no issue with women choosing to play the role of traditional wife. My only issue is with men who expect women to be a waitress and then complain they’re involuntarily celibate because they can’t get their fantasy women.
I’m not judging women here. As a man I’m not faced with the same choices as women. I’m only judging men here.
No woman needs my permission to make any life choices. I judge men because when I see a man acting or talking stupid, I know it makes me look stupid too.
