That’s one of the replacement scripts. I watched a marriage counselor on TV use it yesterday.

[mind you, I don’t ‘watch’ TV – but I’ll watch someone else’s show sometimes :P]

It was some show about people married without meeting first. Arranged Marriage by TV executives.

Anyway, this couple was having problems. There was no doubt they loved each other she was not seeing her role. They called the counselor.

The counselor, like a magical mother, had the perfect words that worked. The counselor pointed out that she was being abusive in the relationship.

No defensiveness in response, just a sudden realization. Tears, a bit of blubbering, “I never thought the word “abusive” could ever apply to me”…

and a little later, they went through some apologies, and got over the hurdle.

In short, the counselor handed a new script. Seems to be working for them. On TV. On a show that is supposed to be unscripted. But even if the show isn’t scripted, the people are. I suppose we all are somewhat.
