That’s a tough one. You might get some info here:
Toughness, a fierceness and physical strength are often praised qualities in much of middle class American black life for boys. Sports as a road to success for boys is heavily promoted at a young age, money as a goal is promoted, learning to do a good hustle as ways to make it in America as an American black man by very effective or at least very believable American male black mentors and I admire their work.
Much of American black culture is a kind of conservative but not in a white Republican conservative way. Family unity is stressed. There is a homophobia that’s not stressed but common.
These are observational stereotypes by me. I can’t verify accuracy of any of it and I hope to get corrections.
Systems of power are not just government. Church and family are institutions of power as is humor (if you make people laugh, you have their assent).
I don’t think the positive growth movements directly encourage spanking but church and family and humor allow the practice to be normalized, not just in much of American black communities but also in the greater American society, so much so that it can be nearly invisible.
