That kid that built the clock – would they have called the police if he was white, wore nerd glasses and a plaid shirt?

Agreed. I believe the majority of police are doing a fine job doing their jobs correctly. We notice the bad cases because it’s the “subject of the day” and with cameras in everybody’s hands, we’re noticing more things that we wouldn’t have before.

Still, we can do better. Being a cop in the USA is a sexy thing, very powerful, people listen. Would a USA cop use a clear body shield to approach a situation?

I think they should. But I don’t think they will.

We like projectiles I guess.

Institutionalized racism is a problem – and it’s in all sectors of society. No avoiding it. As they say, even dogs are racist. [if you’re white and go into a non-white neighborhood, the dogs will growl at you, just as dogs in a white neighborhood will growl at non-whites in their neighborhood).

It’s often been said that the Chinese, generally speaking, are the most racist of all cultures.

All that being said, whatever the race is an authority figure is, I think it’s important to maintain blindness to profiling as much as possible.

That kid that built the clock – would they have called the police if he was white, wore nerd glasses and a plaid shirt?

Nope. Yet he’d be statistically more likely to be bringing something deadly to school tongue emoticon
