Once upon a time, children were property and their welware was irrelevant compared to goal seeking. Then, rights for children, 19th century – inspired by animal rights. Once upon a time, babies could feel no pain up to 9 months. Then in the 20th century, 1984 to be precise, the American Medical Association declared babies do feel pain. 1984. So would the same people kicking robots have hurt babies, animals or children because they did not feel pain or did not matter? They likely would have. This is why it matters.
