On an idealistic level (perfect world scenario – one may say in the pure realm of ideals even) — I might agree that these shared fictions are illusions.
But for me I draw a distinction between illusion and impactful fictions. People have been murdered over a lie or an fiction, but someone is dead, which is not an illusion.
