Symbol and object may be constructs.

David M. Myer-Seaman ah what I’m saying is the distinction between symbol and object MAY be the result of a human propensity to categorize in a “this and only this but never that” fashion. Or rather, not our propensity but rather the result of a civilization built upon a distinction which CAN be traced to a single man : Plato. (Two if you include Aristotle for his strong concept of non contradiction). Not a fundamental of the Universe or human cognition but the product of a philosophy that was extraordinarily successful but nevertheless constructed.
