Such a system will not prevent a winnowing of power to the hands of a single family. With power in the hands of a single family and all other citizens impoverished, the raw numbers of individuals who are poor and disenfranchised will greatly outnumber the single holding family of power. This makes such a scenario unsafe for the ruling family and would be foolish for any nation to try such a system seriously.

Now, defend your hill instead of heckling about like a back row audience member.

People in power gobble up other people in power. That’s how the real world functions. At some point, you have a monopoly. Spreading a small bit of power evenly across the entire population acts as a safety valve allowing the powerful to remain powerful just a tiny bit less.

Let’s say your idea wins, Rob. Now you have people to look down upon. But, there are people looking down upon you. At some point, you’ll be pushed into the poverty zone by the more powerful. That will happen to those in turn. This is capitalism in action. I’m not strictly anti-capitalist, just anti-excess of capitalism, which this would give by favoring those “with” excessively.

You have never run a business then.

Your head is clearly in the land of theory. It’s fun making thought experiments. But at some point, look around to how things actually function.

It’s not easy. But the thing about US business: If you have less than 50 employees, it’s basically a hobby, not a small business. Less than 10 or so, it’s a micro business, not small.Current business is 15 yrs in. It’s micro. System is designed to support business owners of 50 or more employees and no less.

Small business is classified as 50-500 if I remember right. Under that, you’re a fool if you have employees and not subcontractors.People running “mom and pop” want to feel like big boys. “I’m just like Exxon here in my 12 employee shop”. But they’re not. That’s why it’s so hard for businesses that tiny to stay in business at all. System isn’t for them and most business owners that size are delusional and wonder why “everything is so expensive”.

Kenneth Udut As far as the IRS is concerned, what you ran and what I run is basically a glorified hobby. Politicians (and businesses that sell products to “small business) play micro businesses for suckers, appealing to our egos. “I’m just like Trump – I have a business too. Voting for business is a vote to help myself!”

But it’s not. Those benefits only help 50 employee+ businesses who are big enough to self-sustain within most economies, given enough drive, market, etc.

Even 50 employee companies barely see a boost. It’s the 1000-10000+ employee companies that REALLY start to see those tax break incentives and deregulating make profit.

None of those help “guy with mortgage”. “guy with micro business” – a dime a dozen, almost zero impact on the economy.

But they want our votes.
