Starting with an image of an apple, I’m finding what’s called 26-connected points (a connection in any of 26 directions, which includes 3D). it’s subtle and thin and Facebook may obliterate the thin lines. But as it turns red, look up at the leaf area at the connections. Then suddenly the red disappears and you can start to see the subtle connections in the apple skin part. ImageJ/Fiji is used primarily for medical imaging process and finding subtle connected structures in 2D and 3D is an important capability as they may represent important biological structures that may be difficult to see, particularly if they can’t be stained with dye.
