Well, they’re systems. Systems theory / systems thinking comes into play here. Is what you said above possible? Sure. I can’t say it is or it isn’t.

But I’ll say this from experience myself: studying systems large and small, and seeing how they work from a micro and macroscope and interrelated scales… you really get this sense of “woah” from it all.

 

Even if it’s our cognitive systems getting overwhelmed – our inability to track more than approximately 150 items simultaneously – if nothing else, when we reach our own cognitive limitations, sometimes all you can do is lean back and go, “holy crap… this stuff is mind-blowing”.

Anybody who *isn’t* amazed by it all, I feel kinda sorry for.
