I cut it a bunch of times between then and now. Started growing it again about 2 years ago. 1/2 way down my back again – longer than up there. Privilege of middle age: you stop giving a shit what people think about you.

Takes some practice. I practiced from the 3rd grade on.
Started with “sticks and stones may break my bones”. Added more tools to the IDGAF toolbox ever since.

finished the Hobbit as a kid. Only got 1/2 way through the first book. Picked up the whole story by having lots of friends obsessed with it.
When movies came out, saw whole first one. Didn’t bother with the others or Hobbit. I know the story – great story… love Jrr Tolkein and the effect he’s had on culture, all of D&D and standard medieval lore in videogames all came from him…
…but trying to read the novels made my arms cramp.

Psst – I never saw all of the Star Wars movies either.
I was 6.5 when the 1st one came out. Fell asleep 1/2 way through – wasn’t ’til the 80s that I saw the whole thing on TV.
Passed out through Empire strikes back, never saw all of Return of the Jedi either. Saw the 1st reboot. Tried watching the 2nd.. the senate stuff made me fall asleep. 3rd reboot I saw on TV – fast forwarded to the good parts. That wasn’t bad.
Saw the Force Awakens in the movies. THAT one I liked. Disney did good bringing back the old spirit.

Loved the Hobbit book. The main books though … I mean I liked the story CONCEPT… and his creativity was fantastic. I could understand HOW people got sucked into his alt.universe… I just never did.
