Even IDARPA (USA) only works on a handful of projects at a time and they’re top-notch.
Corporations want money and figure out lots of ways to make more of it. One of those ways is through patents. [prevent competition, sue if someone tries to do the same thing]. The marvel of patents is you don’t have to even MAKE ANYTHING, just plan it out.
So they file tons of patents. Tons and tons of patents.
Once in a while, they actually make something from their inventions that can potentially generate profit.
But unfortunately, they mostly file the patents and then sit on them.
The good news for ppl at home is we can look all of those patents up if we want to know how to make something. Chances are, somebody’s already patented a decent starting point. You might not be able to use it to make money ,but you can at least build the thing you need from them.
