So it seems I’m part of an “unbroken maternal lineage” to a 5th century Viking who was found at Orkney, Scotland, Pictish / Norse. H3k1a

Sample: VK201 / Orkney_Buckquoy, sk M12
Location: Buckquoy_Birsay, Orkney, Scotland, UK
Age: Viking 5-6th century CE
Y-DNA: I-B293
mtDNA: H3k1a

A relative whose hard genealogy work/dna i’d been secretly shadowing when alive and continuing in my own since he passed (I only contacted him once very long ago in the 1990s online, long before Facebook), I still continue to find bits of rabbit trails he’d left “out there” to contribute to overall knowledge. A DNA kit number showed up in a number of places from the early 2010s that helped me find clues that led to other clues that led to this viking discovery – which had occurred after he’d already passed on but I’m sure he’d have loved it.
