I was raised Methodist, which had a hippie-dippie God and no hell and stuff. When i was in the Orthodox Church in my mid/late 20s I didnt see it there either, although I wasn’t looking for it. It’s likely it was in both places. [the authoritarianism].
Inbetween, I had dabblings with Unitarian Universalism, Quaker, vipasanna meditation and a teacher in sophmore year in high school try to introduce me to Bahai. She drove a sensible Volvo.
So, I suppose I was lucky.
