I think in metaphors/analogies most of the time, so to me, saying Everything is Random and Everything is God are equivalent. (ie – an Ineffable God and “It’s Random” are both personifications of “damned if I know how so let’s attribute it to this ineffable something/one”
All that being said, the whole 6000 year thing, I thought was a ridiculous bit of crackpottery from an 18th century dude who thought he’d tie-it-all-together but as far as I know, he was a bit of a crackpot even THEN and the people who decided, “Gee, this is a fine notion” were fellow crackpots.
Mainstream religions never bothered me. Never had a problem with them. But crackpots are annoying, especially when they get popular.
