a) Sam Harris is an author who sells books.
He gives talks to sell books. He’s a motivational speaker which supports sales of his books who supports a cause which supports selling his books.
Does he believe this stuff? Maybe he does. But he’s just a variation of Deepak Chopra to me, catering to a different audience who nod “yes yes – Sam Harris speaks for me!”
Eh. I guess it’s the kinda thing you like if you like this kinda thing.
I preferred Anthony Robbins – 90s. He had the big teeth and dorkiness I liked. Not so much now I mean, he’s passe and I’ve passed my motivational speaker needs.
To me, Sam Harris is saying, “You’re free because you’re not responsible. Isn’t that grand?” Motivational. That’s all it is. I’ll take the “Be Yourself/You can do anything” stuff I grew up with in my 80s Saturday morning cartoons instead for my motivational needs.
Oh and Mr Rogers. He was awesome
