Rubio will do fine. He’s been thankfully generally unhelpful in Florida politics, beyond being a known face and his daily bible verses but he was always capable at doing actual work when necessary. Removing him from DeSantis was a deliberate swipe at DeSantis from Trump as it forced DeSantis to draw from his limited pool of loyalists to fill the seat. Moody his AG (who replaced Bondi) will take the seat until a required special election in 2026. He _could have_ done a special election in 2025 but he’s more of a “put loyal people in that I like” and not so much a “let’s run an election to see what the public wants” kind of guy.
