Roll call: Changed party for Gillum. I was Independent until July 2018 for 25+ yrs. I read the platform of the Democratic Progressive Caucus of Florida and was impressed that Progressive is a Caucus within the Democratic Party. I was in about 80%-90% agreement, far more than I’ve been for any party. I then looked at their picks and Andrew Gillum was listed. I looked at his platform, which is thorough and answered any questions I might have had. I had no more reason to say no. I fought with the Florida voter registration website. Took 4 tries but finally I switched and am a Democrat. I consider myself a Progressive within the Democratic Party, working both to heal the Democratic party and to go against the paleoconservatives that seem to have overrun the Republican Party. [Blue vs Red never did much for me but I need our politics to heal] Anybody else change for Gillum?

I think there’s a good chance to convince Putnam voters to go for Gillum. There are a lot of #NeverTrump Republicans who voted for Putnam and they don’t want an “I love Trump like you do” Gov either.

I had that issue with Sanders and I don’t blame you. But I’m counting on “the long game” now — that Progressive values will sweep a slow healing process across what needs fixing in the Democratic party and will arise anew.

I know it sounds grandiose but watching seats go Progressive, or places like Mayors of towns and things, I really think it’s possible.

I’m glad you’re going slowly and carefully with thought. It’s not an easy process and I’m still in disbelief.
