rights have been playing identity politics for a long time now. Once it was tied into a certain evangalical identity but since the late 1990s its lost its religious and has learned to speak the lingo of the left, where they end up working some very strange logic indeed. Been hearing this brand for 15+ years now but I never expected it to go so mainstream as this.

The mistake the newish right made was getting into actual power.

It worked as a rebellion. But as Establishment, it doesn’t know what to do at all because plans =/= results in the real world.

I’m going by what I see here – teams of me toos. I’m not assassinating character just noticing popular trendiness.

I’ll gladly devalue views I disagree with, especially if I see little value in them.

But character assassination I reserve for the ‘fun part’ of internet debate, which has gotten rather old over the past few years. I’ve noticed posts like this one nearly entirely disappeared from the political groups I’m in. At one time, they were very common. The vapors of enthusiasm are floating off into the atmosphere as reality has been setting in for many.

On the contrary Erik. Not mentioning one’s implied identity doesn’t take away playing identity politics. There is identity politics taking place in this post by those who are speaking of “social justice bullies”.

The answer to identity politics is diplomacy, not continuing an East/West Berlin style divide.

I’ve heard that line many times. “I used to liberal but then…[x] pushed me over the edge…” and maybe it’s true, but it’s become somewhat of a trope.
