How do you know what stick to pickup? *I* think SHADOW information is a very important clue. The lighter the shadow, the further from the table. The higher the stick, the more likely it’s on top and has very little weight on it.
 
Noticing crossings too The more crossings per stick, the more its pinned down. BUT… that can also form a bridge allowing easy removal.
