The sacred is that which is clean, set aside, has rules for proper engagement with and often includes specially set aside people who are the only ones allowed to participate with the sacred. It can be object or activity.
My definition puts a spotlight on certain people being allowed to participate when others cannot. This is important to note because not all sacred is accessible to all people in all contexts. Some people may be forbidden from ever participating in the sacred.
