There’s “What Is” and THEN there’s the stories we tell about what is and then there’s the stories we believe and don’t believe.

It’s all storytelling. The story of Gravity on earth working at 9.8 m/s (or whatever it is) happens to be a story that works out to be close enough to the the planet we find ourselves on.

Doesn’t make number-stories infallible but numbers are nice.

Words are just as good. So are machines. We build machines to tell stories for us in languages we can understand.

All stories though. Take your pick. I like a lot of the cognitive psych/Cog sci stories. Their stories told via interpreted pictures of “brain scans” are nice stories. Colorful too. Are their interpretations of the strange markings correct? Some are likely true. Some are contestable. Heck, there isn’t much that SOMEBODY out there isn’t contesting somehow.

So…

A series of overlapping and divergent opinions, some of which happen to coincide with what we find around us. That’s my answer to “What is Reality?” The map both is and isn’t the territory simultaneously.
