Psychology can make sense of it by identifying the systems involved in the processes. Cognitive science as an interdisciplinary field is better suited than traditional psychology but it is directly related.

Normative is bearing standards and many things have standards. I would consider logic to be in the same realm as engineering as it is done nowadays with norms and standards.
