Protest groups however know how to go local.. But they’re not using their powers to raise politicians into office. But they know the grassroots system and fundraising parts.
Example: This 4/20 school walkout is *not* being assisted by WomansMarch. It’s an 10a-close walkout and is student led and run. The kids are having an even harder time getting assent without the backup but they’re doing it anyway. Middle school and high school levels.
What will come of it? Undoubtedly lots of suspensions – probably far more than the other walkout that used existing networks for assistance.
But the template is there for grassroots. Now imagine that was used for a 3rd party? It could happen but I doubt it would be for existing 3rd parties.
But even with that, the 2 party system is just about embedded in stone for the USA. Still, it’s worth chipping away at it.
