Nothing new here. I don’t think there was a golden age in the USA when America wasn’t anti-intellectual. It’s the old US vs Europe thing again, except we have a few more countries to be stupid against.
Business. America was founded by unhappy businessmen.
Pragmatism is the rule of America, not intellectualism.
If it works, do it.
Purity of knowledge-for-knowledge sake never got a proper foothold in the USA, as much as we pretend. Everything has to be practical, pragmatic, serve a purpose, get a job, have a career.
