Plus, if the spark effect is generated *first* and if the girl is an actress, she just has to mimic the movement of the magic sparks with practice.

Me too. But I don’t even have decent movie editors. My computer has .. Windows movie maker :P [plus some tools like ffmpeg and stuff] – my iphone has better editing tools but it still can’t do this. Maybe frame by frame – I could probably do it that way maybe.. although I don’t know how I’d generate the frame-by-frame effects to look so good.

The spark effect is really impressive to me. I *could* see it being done on a green screen and making the sparks physically with a piece of magnesium or steel wool lit up maybe, then overlaying it… Probably computer generated though – it’s so precise.

wait! A piece of wood that has the pattern carved out with a router. Paint the wood the same color as the chromakey [green or whatever].

Then fill up the groove patterns with something that brightly sparks when lit up (magnesium powder probably).

Remove the green, only the spark is left. Overlay it.

That’s an analog way to do it I think.
