Ah! That’s a good planning technique. I do that. I look at the amount of time total and work backwards, once I have an idea of a “window of time” I have to work with.
So let’s say I estimate a book on Category theory and Physics will take a total of 18 months.
So, that leave me an 18 month window to work with.
I’d start from the day I die and go backwards until I find a convenient slot to fit the work in.
If I want to add “promotion time”, public talks, fame and glory”, I’d have to figure out how long it would take for my fame to peak and ride before it falls down and I become (Udut, year) in a publication.
I add the 2nd window to the first and slide that around.
With that process, I have to decide, “Do I want to maximize the amount of time I have to gather general knowledge that might eventually help?”
If so, I’d place the process close to the death day.
