piercing into heaven vs a gentle push – a hope – West vs East Architecture

When I was in the Orthodox Church for a few years, I was very inspired by the architecture. I was raised in the Methodist Church, which didn’t really have Hell (I don’t believe in it, never did – and even the Orthodox didn’t make a big thing about Hell ’cause Hell is separation from God and, well, we do it to ourselves..

Anyway, note the difference: Western architecture has us PIERCING STRAIGHT into heaven… like pricking the skin of Heaven to find a way in.

Eastern architecture is more gentle.

So, my approach is different.

And you are right, it’s an illustration of myself. I can’t speak for anybody else with full integrity because I’m not them.spire-vs-dome
