Parents’ Magazine was extraordinarily influential in how babies were raised in the USA since the late 1920s. Very developmental psychology focused.
In-Hospital Breastfeeding / mother’s milk had been in a steady decline since WW2, hitting its lowest point in 1972 (I was born in early 1972 and being a premie got human breast milk)
But starting in late 1971, Parents’ Magazine started running ads promoting breast feeding – and it was in late 1972 that the downward trend in breast feeding began to reverse course dramatically year after year.
