Our expectations of femininity are so grossly warped from childhood onwards that it obliterates so many people’s critical thinking skills. I remember Star Magazine and other publications putting up “Stars without their makeup” – and it was nearly always women – as some kind of shock thing. and it still continues now made stronger by the “internet men-only support group culture” which does anything in its power to belittle women at every turn. and now it’s all political on top of it to where whole political parties are expected to play this denigration game. Maybe it’s nothing new and they always have but it’s daily.
