next time i’m in front of the piano, i’ll give 7/8 a shot – it’s like doing 4/4 + 3/4, or an oom-pah-oom-pah, oom-pah-pah / repeat – 4/4 followed by a waltz followed by 4/4 followed by a waltz. the hardest to play is 5/4 time but once you get the rhythm of that, you feel like you can do anything. (you WANT to bring it to a regular 4/4 or a 6/4 (two triplets) but you have to force yourself to stay inbetween. Gives you that “shoedinger cat” feeling – not quite one, not quite the other – somewhere inbetween. “
