Other reason. Pragmatism. In a Stateless society, women could do whatever they wanted. But we live in a society with a State to be reckoned with. The State determines Personhood and some persons are citizens or future citizens (others are corporations, etc). There is no legal entity that is distinct from the mother until it is medically viable to remove the Citizen. SO if the State decides it wants the citizen for itself, such as “anti-abortion laws”, then the earliest possible time to separate is at medical viability. Until medical viability for separation there is only one person there. That is how I see it.
