That’s how I see it as well. It’s great that it works “unreasonable well” with physics (versus what else, I don’t know) but some leaps of faith I’ve seen (“The Universe is made of Math”) get to be a bit ridiculous, akin to studying a map and believing you’ve mastered the actual territory as it were.

Oh I like that analogy! I may use that. Of course, there’s people in Philosophy (particularly analytical philosophy) that believe “Language is thought” with all of their arguments of true-values hinging upon dictionary definitions being absolutes (which they aren’t). So, they might believe that France is made of French.
