You speak in earnest. In a comedy team, you’d be the “straight man”. Your humor is dry wil; one of my favorite types of humor because it’s not sarcasm (which is dull to me) but “funny because it’s true” humor.
One becomes so jaded to overt humor through lying (usually in forms of sarcasm) that earnest is refreshingly amusing. The sad part about it all, is earnest *shouldn’t* be funny – it should be the norm. But it isn’t the norm, so ppl laugh.
1 “haha that’s funny, look he was being honest!”
2 “I know right – who DOES that?”
1 “it’s hysterical I could laugh about honesty all day!”
2 “I know! I know! It’s funny because people are liars and he’s not!”
1 “I know – we’re always lying to each other!”
2″yeah, but he means it!”
1 “yeah, that’s hysterical”
or as I imagine a conversation happening, which it didn’t.
