On a CORPORATE scale, that’s correct.

On a CORPORATE scale, that’s correct.
However, they play the games. Egg prices? Artificially inflated right now. Grocery prices? artificially inflated since long after Covid and transportation strikes long resolved.
Why? Because they can.
And “Prices are high because of the tariffs” WILL be the go-to excuse of every corporation the moment they begin.
Even though the tariffs won’t be responsible. You’ll be able to tell by their stock prices, by their bonuses, by the income of their higher-ups.
Publix here in Florida was my great disappointment. The days of “Supermarkets make 1-3% markup are LONG over in Florida. Publix had gone up to 11% markup at times in the past few years and blaming “bidenomics” or “covid” or “Union strikes” when the heads were making money hand over fist. In this case it’s because my governor was a child of the same town Publix HQ is so they were buddy buddy from the start. Still though, the way they shift blame to “anything but” themselves is frustrating.
