Ok, you win. I was hoping you’d mention String Theory as that was a grip of mine in the 90s. [I didn’t finish college but I _wanted_ theoretical physics – yet if I had, I’d have been one of the factory mathematicians struggling in the string theory area]
I mean those are the only two I know of – Greenhouse gas and String theory in theoretical physics — but then you can go to criminology and find “Broken Window Theory” everywhere even though it was wrong – and its hold lasted for a decade or more… etc — and if I think about it, yeah, there’s more.
