Ok, I understand better where you are coming from: I am mocking the notion of a biological basis for rape. I do not think it is genetic. I am not mocking the sociological aspects of rape culture. That is: I know that there is a toxic culture that has been going on for a very long time among men that legitimizes rape by making jokes, and belittling women that is institutionalized, enshrined in a lackluster justice system, rape kits rotting in warehouses to this day.

In our own lifetime, gay-bashing until dead was common. Big problem in the early 1990s in Australia.
Also in our lifetimes, there was no such thing as “domestic violence”. That was between a husband and wife.
Husbands couldn’t rape wives. That was just marriage.
Spouses beating one another? None of our businsess.
That’s how it was in our lifetimes. You don’t have to go to grandparents.

I understand the confusion from my statement. When I stated “it was legal up through the mid 1990s”, that was in response to

John Blaise Lent

who said it was legal in the 1800s”.

The emphasis I was making is that any changes have been very RECENT and rather weak and much more has to be done.

Education and cultural changes. It works. Is it perfect? No. But look in the history of movies, what has been acceptable and no longer is.
1940s movies: man hits the woman and she falls madly in love and they kissed.
Do you think that worked in real life? Doubt it. It was a cultural myth that likely resulted in a lot of problems.

“Raise your hands if your Sure”. A single ad campaign has resulted in probably billions of people through the decades collectively NOT lifting up their arms in fear of a sweat mark showing.

blue for boys and pink for girls was a marketing campaign to sell baby clothes which prior to that were unisex and white, which could easily be bleached.

Science doesn’t rule all or most decision making. Whims of businsess leaders / politicians did and do still rule most things.

The world is far less rational than it should be.
