Oh that song is their swan song; it is their absolute best. In my mind, and I don’t know if this is true, I consider it Duran Duran’s FINAL song. My sister was obsessed with them. For me they were just background but I had to hear every song from them. I mostly tolerated them; they weren’t awful but because my sister loved them, I automatically tried to find ways to hate them. I would nit pick the videos, how stupid they were, or try to pick apart the symbolism as only a 13 year old can. (that is: poorly but I thought I was smart) But Ordinary World came out YEARS AND YEARS after I thought Duran Duran was over. Their heyday was the early 1980s: The Reflex 1984. But Ordinary world was 1994 – a full 10 years later. They’d disappeared, gone away, the world had changed. And their era was over. So to hear that final song from them ran deep and painful. I don’t know if it was tied to Kurt Kobain’s death or not. I never researched it. But it was definitely a sign that what we thought was an innocent was over-over.

Oh the cause of those things?
I don’t know. Adults were always complaining about how horrible things were for us. They didn’t try to understand our generation at all. Nobody wanted to bridge the gaps except for music videos, music, tv, video games.
