Oh, now don’t be politically apathetic here :P I care that you cared enough to post this and I care that you responded and I care that I feel that I should care more about the importance of apathy in a functioning society but don’t enough to engage properly as I feel I should.

Well, I think of a-pathos – without passion – to be more akin to “being reasonable, rational, dispassionate”. Neither warm nor cold but room temperature, weighing and measuring without letting emotions move the scales too much in the process.

But what happens if you become apathetic to apathy? Is that when caring begins?

One of the issues I have with apathy as a political stance is it can be abused. Sociopaths also have an apathetic view of consequences of their actions, so they leave a lot of litter behind them for others to clean up.

That’s a little different of course but every political stance has its downsides.

As a citizen, I’m generally apathetic to politics. I expect certain things out of politicians and business people and I’m never disappointed.

eigengrau maybe… that’s the black we see when we close our eyes…

hard to explain but my hands do things like type and move the mouse and i don’t know why they do but it doesn’t matter really… they just type words and grab things with the mouse, click around, comment and share but it’s not like I put any thought or feeling into it… and if suddenly this weird activity of my fingers and hands stopped it wouldn’t make much difference. sort of like inertia… it just keeps going if it’s going and if it stops it stops and stays there and either way it’s just doing whatever it’s doing

some kind of survey thing they did and they concluded that eigengrau is the black we see when we close our eyes but it might be wrong might be right, no idea. i once read a book on improving your vision that had you do exercises like imagining the blackest black you could, and then going a shade blacker… then a shade blacker… and honestly don’t know if it did anything but i believe it did… anyway fingers type until they stop which is about here i think… unless there’s more coming out.. wait, no that’s it i think.

=====

me neither. i guess they assume if it’s true for some it’s true for all
