Not intentionally. Rather, I was thinking more directly of an analogy. If you pluck a string, various harmonics also sing but there is also the wave forms of the fundamental which make up the “texture” of the sounds that distinguishes a guitar pluck from a piano hit, and all of those waves start colliding, occasionally reinforcing and also cancelling but you should be able to find at the faintest, furthest harmonics, some trace of the original string texture present.
It’s like cutting out all but a narrow range of frequencies in Audacity and still being able to tell what it is. The redundancy of information.
