Nobody else shot that rifle. How our 2021 laws interpret a 17 year old whose actions caused two people to die at the end of the rifle in his hand in our nation may be another matter.

There’s almost no chance whatsoever that he will be any sacrificial anything.
He goes through the motions and he’s out with a small charge. His performance on the stand is fantastic overall.
He refused to answer a key question of the prosecution about fear that would make intent crystal clear. They got the weird judge people try to avoid getting because he’s a known screwball there.
The prosecution is not helping its own case. There was one good line of questioning but he takes the bait of the judge both yesterday and today and it’s not doing any favors.
The judge agrees with the defense at every turn. Watching them nodding in unison is bizarre.
It is what it is.

The case is already settled.
They are all just going through the motions.
Too much at stake for him to lose. There’s governors of several states who need his win for precedence.

This will give justification for some big changes to Castle Doctrine and I know of several states that will jump on it immediately.

Texas and Florida, who already have strong Castle Doctrine Laws, will have justification AND DeSantis will have some backing for his controversial anti-riot Castle addition.

Texas having gone full carry-anything-anywhere but has not done as strong of a job with their measures, a bit more sloppy than Florida – who was pretty sloppy themselves — with the extreme abortion and going against federal concealed carry laws so directly, begging for them to be overturned, each affecting the other.

But it’s the other states with less pronounced Castle Doctrine laws that will make strong use of this.

Some police departments, like my nutty Polk County here, WANT vigilantes – but they’ll take you in if you do it wrong too – deputizing citizens in what’s kind of a strange lazy way. But that Sheriff is an oddball.

Point is, he’s going to win the case. Has to. Too many got their own new laws written up already ready to burst out within the next few months. Is what it is.
