That is a good question and it might not be entirely answerable with absolute certainty.

Our representational models of reality are the best we can do as neither our cognitive systems nor the systems we devise to describe reality are able to handle the uniqueness of things, so we have to compress into patterns that we can comprehend or that the devices we build can utilize.

It’s the best we can do. Where are things “in spite of’ how we represent it? Without any other perspectives outside of our own, I don’t think there’s any way to be certain. We have to work with the best of what we have at present.
