My point is: You forgive the free speech of someone that _might_ (or might not) have had something (even miniscule) in influencing (even a tiny bit) in a chain of events that led to several deaths, property damage and hundreds of people jailed. vs an offhand comment in the middle of an interview that you see as part of an general ‘air of’ something – an environment which encourages something nefarious – but it’s all ghosty things.
