My mother asked the nurse there, “Do you think he’ll make it?”

My mother’s told a story from when I was a premie in the hospital. 3 months early, tubes and wires, died three times (already had my last rites several times), still here.

At the time, all the premies were kept in a common nursery area. My mother asked the nurse there, “Do you think he’ll make it?”

Nurse replied, “Oh he’ll make it, I have no doubt. Look at those babies over there. They’re just laying there, barely moving, not crying, not complaining. But look at your son – he’s fussing, kicking and screaming, always complaining. He’s a fighter and he’ll make it.”

I don’t see any reason to ever stop.
