my education in this has been SO hit or miss, stumbling in the dark in places I don’t really understand, all out of order and scrambled, that it amazes me that anything I’m writing about makes any sense at all.
I’m trying really hard to get to the bottom of things in my own weird fashion. All out of order but I have trouble doing things in order.
Right now, I think the oscillations-in-everything MAY be a byproduct of the move from infinitesimals to Calculus of Variations and other related moves.
That is, hiding in the math itself.
I mean, I never took Calculus except a failed senior year in high school. I really barely understand it at all – and I’ve tried. I’m probably making it harder than it is. But I AM fascinated by figuring out how things work and tying things together as best I can.
So right now, I’m taking a peek into Nonstandard Calculus, as it continues using infinitesimals, which I _think_ don’t require limits, avoiding the “surfaces/membranes”, which may remove the necessity of oscillations.
I don’t know if it will or should. But I have to look.
