MOVEMENT / COMMODITY / PLANT / MORALITY – Analogies

+Adam Black The connections are conceptual or abstractions of their original form. (I also got the list from a Chinese English learning site; being natively removed from “thinking in English”, I believe, allows them a greater ability to see the abstractions than we can being native speakers)

Here’s an example off the top of my head – let’s see if it meshes:

Pursuit of money is the root of evil.

MOVEMENT / COMMODITY / PLANT / MORALITY

You can pursue a robber (chasing is movement)
Money is commodity.
Root is part of a Plant
Evil is a moral judgement.

All VERY different things by themselves.  Yet, we can put them together to form analogies that we instantly understand.
